As your Weld County Sheriff

  • First law enforcement agency to place registered sex offenders on a sex offender Web site
  • Worked with the state legislature to change the law regarding sex offender websites. Because of my efforts nearly all law enforcement agencies now have sex offenders listed on their webpage
  • Created the “25 Most Wanted” on the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Webpage, which also runs once a month in the Greeley Tribune resulting in the capture of numerous fugitives and felons
  • Reduced the crime rate by 50 percent since 2005
  • Higher arrest rates
  • Lowered by half response times to “priority one” calls
  • Had the vision to create the Northern Colorado Regional Crime Lab
  • Oversaw the creation and building of the Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial
  • Created a School Resource Officer program
  • Under my leadership the Sheriff’s Office solved the Mary Pierce homicide case
  • Started the Victim Advocate program for Weld County
  • Created a DUI Task Force amongst various Weld County Law Enforcement agencies
  • Reduced the number of fatal accidents on Weld County Roads (93 in 2004 – 42 in 2012)
  • Created a $500 scholarship for graduating Weld County High School Seniors
  • Every year came in under budget and returned money to the general fund
